Rihanna stretches her vocals on the anthemic pop tune, “Towards the Sun,” the first single off the soundtrack of the animated film, “Home.”

Backed by a marching tempo and children’s choir, the Bajan singer exposes her falsetto and bends her alto-tempered voice to create an uplifting, gallant track. “Turn your face towards the sun, let the shadows fall behind you,” she chants.

Rihanna contributed additional vocals for the Dreamworks animated movie, voicing the main character “Tip.” Although we’ve seen her in a few flicks (Battleship, This is the End), this is Rihanna’s first voice-acting feature.

“Home” also stars Jim Parsons, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez, and is based on the 2007 Adam Rex’s children’s book, “The True Meaning of Smekday.”

Rihanna is spearheading the concept album, with Jennifer Lopez, Charli XCX, and Kiesza also lending their voices to the soundtrack.

The animated comedy, “Home” reaches theaters March 27.  Hear “Towards the Sun” below or download on iTunes.
