It’s a sad, sad day here at POTENT. Writer/director Cecile Emeke’s hilariously ground breaking web series, Ackee & Saltfish, aired its fifth and final episode of the season this past Sunday. The impertinence! To say we’ll miss the epic antics, heated debates and overall ease of Olivia and Rachel’s friendship, played brilliantly by actresses Michelle Tiwo and Vanessa Babirye, would be an understatement.

In “Deception” the longest episode to date, the best pals prepare to chow down a heaping of the show’s namesake, compliments of Rachel’s ever so caring and ever so thoughtful boyfriend, Darren. Only, the meal is missing one essential ingredient: the saltfish.

To make matters worse, a Tupperware full of plain white rice accompanies the incomplete dish. Surely this premeditated act and double offense trumps not getting Lauryn Hill tickets, eating back bread smothered in marmite, being forced out of a carpet shop while getting your boogie on, and smelling your friend’s potentially hot breath. Olivia breaks it down best: “Only someone who is trying to hurt us would do this.” She and Rachel handle the deception in a way only they can.

Watch the last episode play out here, and be sure to catch up on our reviews of all the episodes – it’ll ease the withdrawals.  But if that doesn’t do it, be sure to hit up Ackee & Saltfish on Twitter and let Cecile Emeke know you want to see a Season 2!
