The cosmopolitan city of Barranquilla, Colombia will host Plataforma K once again on March 12 and 13, 2015 at Universidad del Norte. The international fashion event specializes in resort season collections, and is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Barranquilla and supported by PROCOLOMBIA. The fair will cover four scenarios: fashion shows, business matchmaking forums, a Pop-Up Store and a virtual promotion strategy.
The guidance and support from PROCOLOMBIA will give added value to the participants attending Plataforma, since the government promotion agency aims to provide its personalized services before, during and after the show in order to generate business opportunities and enhance the relationship between Colombian designers and exporters and international buyers.
“There will be 95 Colombian exporters at the event, offering the best of Colombia’s swimwear and beachwear industry for Caribbean buyers,” stated María Claudia Lacouture, President of PROCOLOMBIA, the government agency in charge of promoting exports, investment, tourism and the country brand.
PROCOLOMBIA will showcase its message, “Colombia’s Best to the World,” at the 11th edition of Plataforma K which will exhibit collections based on Resort – Boutique – Show concepts. This year’s edition of the event focuses on resort collections, but in addition to swimwear and beachwear, the fair will offer other product lines such as male and female apparel, accessories and sportswear.
The Colombian designers participating in this year’s show include Argemiro Sierra, Camilo Álvarez, Natalia Londoño, Agua Bendita, Daniella Batlle, Martha Rey, Retromarine, Papúa, Saha Swimwear, Vásquez y García, Especia, Maaji, Onda de Mar, Paradizia and Touché.
“Plataforma K has been a great window for Colombian designers and brands to reach international buyers and make their garments available in other markets,” said Rachel Porcella, president of Specchio, a Dominican high-end boutique that has been involved in the last four editions of the show.
“It has been very interesting and beneficial for us because we are able to see the brands that we work with and get to know their new products and designs. They have a great and diverse offer and the organization and support from PROCOLOMBIA has been excellent,” said Porcella.
